Rest Day

FRIDAY 21 JUNE 2019

Rest day today.

A chance to do some maintenance on the van and check the car over.
1                     Installed the microwave back in its spot. Securely with the appropriate amount of screws and silicon to stop the vibrations of the screws.
2                     Fan assembly over the cook top was loose. Secured the wood panel next to it and that in turn secures the fan.
3                     Tightened all screws and installed larger ones in the drawer runners.
4                     Secured the 2 taps.
5                     Found a bolt that holds a radiator hose bracket was missing on the Jeep and luckily had an exact size replacement in the tool bag.

After that we went back over the King Edward River crossing and out of the park to gather firewood for our fire which we need to cook dinner.

Lunch was sorted and Jenny had a new friend in Millie the magpie type bird. It was only a bit smaller than usual but had more white than black which is the opposite of the magpies in Perth.  Pringles are now its new favourite snack.

A swim was in order as it was a bit warm so off to the day use area which really is no different to the rest of the water hole so Jenny on her pool noodle floated back to the area that is level with the van and Larry took the Jeep back to the van and went back to the creek just as Jenny arrived.  A cider and beer to replenish the fluids and back to the van, saying our daily hellos to Barry the Brolga on our way,  as we had a camp oven meal to prepare but first we had to have a fire to get enough coals for the camp oven.

Much to Jenny’s whinging and pouting about the fire not being big enough there were ample coals to cook with. A honey mustard chicken and veg stew was cooked in the camp oven and it was delicious. As we ate Billy the bull wandered past camp – now that’s something that doesn’t happen every day! Now the camp oven was off the coals Jenny could at last have a big fire so the pouting and whinging stopped and all was well in Jenny’s world especially when the marshmallows came out.

A tidy up of our camp area was done to get a head start on packing up in as we head to Drysdale Station for an overnight stop. Showers, clean hair and a washing machine are in order for tomorrow.
