Up early this morning after a strange night with no furry animals in the house - felt very empty not having our shadows. Con the taxi man (his name, not his style!) picked us up at 7.30am and a very quick run out to the airport. Made our way past the poor people and up to the Qantas Club lounge and partook of a leisurely breakfast of fruit salad, muesli and pancakes washed down with a cappucino or two. Nice flight to Melbourne although the window seats were a bit of a waste of time as we up in the cloud pretty quickly. Made our way through Melbourne airport (only seems a little while since we were there last but was 18 months ago already!) and through customs/immigration etc then up to the Qantas lounge at Melbourne International airport. Even though we'd had a proper lunch on the first plane leg, Larry and the girls hopped in to more food - soups, salads, nachos, fruits and icecreams while I contented myself with a G&T and a few crackers - my cold has somewhat suppressed my appetite and I'm not a great flyer at the best of times.
Onto the next plane and, thanks to Larry's FF Gold status we had seats up the front of the plane so could almost pretend we were up with the hobnobs! Watched the Second Best Marigold Hotel and Black Sea and JUST finished as we were landing which was lucky as it was very suspenseful!! Landed in Auckland just after midnight and an uneventful trip through customs etc. Squashed into a taxi and zoomed to our hotel. Of course our room was right at the end of the passage but we have a lovely balcony looking out towards the harbour and the city which looks quite pretty with all the lights on and will hopefully look stunning tomorrow (especially if the sun comes out of the clouds!)
Spent some time up just chilling, writing our blogs/diaries etc and eating room service hot chips before bed.
