Woke up in the Caravan again, in the comfort of our own
beds. Ben discovered that it gets hot very quickly, and that canvas does little
to insulate against this (yes, guess who's writing this one!). Feeling as today was going to be one of the
more 'free days' (as not much was scheduled, and we didn't need to be anywhere
at a set time), it was decided that this would be the morning where we would
indulge in the consumption of eggs and bacon (along with some slightly stale,
but still edible, bread).
Hopping into the car, we once again set off on the 4
kilometre drive to the station. once arriving, Mum impatiently waited as the
lady finished talking to other customers, before she enquired about some of the
surrounding walking tracks and more importantly, where the scenic places are
(so she can show-boat about).
Being directed toward a gorge that is apparently scenic
(although not very during the dry season), we set off toward
Nimbalu-wimbalu-kimbalu-limaloo (one of those) gorge. During the way toward
After Larry had finished with the call (which was to enquire
about possibly extending our stay at a powered site at El Questro), we once
again set off toward Bimbaloo gorge. Once we arrived, we quickly stuffed our
bags full of food and water, and rock-hopped off into the distance. Arriving at
one of the main gorges, we did all of that typical touristy posing stuff. Although the touristy brochure said we could
swim in the pools the reasonably stagnant water was somewhat off putting and so we headed back toward the car, to
return back to the campsite. We made a stop off before getting there, at
another gorge (that I'm sure has a name), and had a brief look at the water
(not so scenic sight). We saw a couple
of barramundi swim by - they looked very smug that we didn't have any fishing
gear with us.
Once back at the station, we went to the pool, mum did all
of that typical Facebook "Look at me, look how comfortable I am, don't you
wish you were me" photos [citation: her Facebook page].
Mum then shouted us a delicious lunch at Dusty's - not quite
like the burger Larry saw on the website but still pretty damn good. We headed back to camp to sit and digest and
snooze and pretty much do absolutely nothing.
About 4.30pm we dragged our chairs down to the river edge and watched
the tide go out and the sun go down and turn the Cockburn ranges all reddy and
purply. We had Kebabs and rice for
dinner.
if you
don't hear from me (Ben) again, it means that Mum has modified this post, and
that she probably hasn't allowed me to
write this again.

I look forward to more posts with your unique perspective Ben
